JAM Reviews Goosebumps: Go Eat Worms! from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment

Goosebumps: Go Eat Worms!: Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment
Review by JAM

From the mind of R.L. Stine and Scholastic, Inc come the previously unreleased DVD Goosebumps: Go Eat Worms! A spooky little collection of episodes from the past (1996 to be exact) that combined stories that made you squirm a little while you learned a valuable lesson from the participants in the story. Three episodes are included with the official Fox synopses included below.

Go Eat Worms! Todd Bastrow is obsessed with worms. He loves to carry them around and torture his sister with them, dropping them into her long hair. That is, until Todd’s worms start playing tricks on their own. Suddenly, worms are making appearances in the most unlikely places - in his bed, in his homework, and - worst of all - in his spaghetti! It’s enough to make you squirm!

Bad Hare Day “Pick a card, any card,” says Tim Swanson, an amateur magician who loves to perform magic tricks, especially before an enthusiastic audience. Someday, Tim hopes to be a real magician, as good as his idol, Amaz-O. But when Tim goes to Amaz-O’s magic show and participates in a disappearing act, he decides his hero is a total jerk! Tim steals Amaz-O’s secret bag of tricks. But he gets more than he bargained for - Amaz-O’s bag of tricks if full of live fluttering doves, hissing snakes...and one very angry rabbit!

Revenge of the Lawn Gnomes Joe Burton’s dad loves tacky lawn ornaments - pink flamingos, plaster skunks, cement angels - nothing is too ridiculous for his yard. But, when Mr. Burton brings home two hideous lawn gnomes with tall, pointy hats and evil grins, it’s not just embarrassing, it’s spooky. Late at night, there’s creeping in the garden and eerie sounds - could those ugly lawn gnomes be alive?

Check them out for your young teens or preteens for a little pre-Halloween fright night!

JAMS Ink on Goosebumps: Go Eat Worms!

An obsession with worms and tormenting his sister backfires on Todd, our antoganist in the first episode. Thank goodness for little sisters and their science projects. But watch out for the minnows!

Tim and his sister sneak out to see a magic show where not everything is truly what it seems. Evil rabbits, heroes who may be jerks yet may be heroes, and true magic combine to make this one show that Tim may be sorry that he didn’t miss.

Joe and his family are tormented by their next door neighbor until his father brings home two lawn gnomes. Suddenly mischief happens, trouble ensues, and things may just get a little magical at the end.

Worms, rabbits, and gnomes, oh my! This is a fun little collection released to DVD just in time for those teens/pre-teens that want to prep themselves for a scary little holiday we call All Hallow’s Eve, or Halloween if you’d like. Grab a copy and enjoy the over-the-top fun chills that may ensue as you take a walk down R.L. Stine’s lane.
