JAM Reviews An Affair to Remember from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment

An Affair to Remember: Blu-Ray: Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment
Review by JAM

An American Film Institute classic romance starring Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr has been released on Blu-ray for your viewing pleasure in high-definition.

Nickie Ferrante (Cary Grant) and Terry McKay (Deborah Kerr) discover that a chance meeting might hold the key to true romance. Each coupled with another partner when they meet, they promise to meet each other at the Empire State Building in six months if their newfound love outlives their current relationships. As always, life intervenes and messes with the best laid plans of love and life as the meeting does not occur. Yet this fated love affair finds its conclusion through the twists and turns of Nickie and Terry’s lives, placing the two into each other’s arms once again.

JAMS Ink on An Affair to Remember

What perfect timing for a release of a romantic classic than just before the most romantic time of life. Two hours of classic love story can melt any heart and bring two people closer and this story is a classic love story. Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr spend what seems to be forever pursuing each other only to find life get in the way. Yet that same life allows them to catch glances of each other as time passes until finally they are given the chance they wanted to take to be together forever. True romance, life’s little hurdles, and amazing circumstances make this movie keep your eyes on the prize waiting for the final payoff as love does find a way.

EXTRAS

Tons of special features on this one as the vaults have opened up and shared their offerings. Audio commentary by singer Marni Nixon and film historian Joseph McBride start off the plethora of pickings along with a cool look at the AMC Backstory: An Affair to Remember. For the aspiring directors of the world there is a cool look at Leo McCarey with historians and directors discussing him, the Look of An Affair to Remember that looks at the visuals used in the film, and also a look at the producer of the film Jerry Wald. I actually enjoyed the look into the life of Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr in the Affairs to Remember as well as the Digi-book that was included as well. Overall, I am glad to have added this classic to my collection especially along with all of the extras it brings.

Make this Valentine’s Day An Affair to Remember as Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment releases this classic on Blu-ray on February 1, 2011. Grab a copy and your significant other and let the romance make its way into your lives.
